Card Meaning
The moon relates to unseen power, illusion, transformation, animal life, fear or anxiety. Within the game this card represents the untrained or unwitting use of magical power.
If drawn as part of a Yes/No query the most likely reading of the Moon is, “Not Yet” or “Maybe Later” rather than a clear Yes/No answer. Of course, if the question posed relates directly to one of the clear associations of the card, such as someone experiencing fear or the presence or absence of an animal then the answer may be a clear Yes or No depending on context.
Setting Specific Design
There are some Collegia Magica flourishes here. The domed buildings on the card are inspired by roughly 50% bodleian library and 50% Merona Palace Rotunda. We've also sneaked a lovely little scorpion into the design as a nod to the Sanguine house of Mondragon.
Mechanical Impact
As a result of the card's associations it can be linked to the medieval roles of Grooms, Falconers or other animal handling tasks, or be a hint that the character may be an untrained magic user, who is likely unaware of their latent talents.
When Played the Moon doubles the Face Value of any other Major Arcana cards in the Meld (or all cards in the Meld for Transmutation Demesne Magical Effects.)
