Card Meaning
This card represents the concepts of Pause, Surrender, Perspective and Reflection. It can represent the need for a change of perspective in order to move forward or seeing another’s point of view.
In a Yes/No query this card is often a neutral “Wait and See” answer, but it may be affirmative if the question is about changing your mind or delaying the taking of action, or negative if the question is about taking immediate action.
Setting Specific Design
The card broadly follow the standard depiction of the Hanged Man within tarot tradition. We have again kept the artwork here quite close to the typical Rider/Waite imagery. There are no specifically Sabrian additions within the iconography, although the image and the halo contain echoes of certain Sabrian religious stories regarding the Saints Reborn.
Mechanical Impact
During character creation this card represents the medieval roles of Executioner, Prisoner, Condemned Man or Jailer.
In addition to acting as a wildcard for mundane characters, whenever this card is Exhausted in play the player fetches any two Minor Arcana cards from their Exhaustion pile, adds one of the chosen cards to their hand and buries the other in their Deck
